Water conservation is the highlight of the day. On this World Water Day, we would like to introduce you to a novel Make in India Startup that has in less than 2 years saved the planet 12 million liters of water and has been able to do this not just in India but globally.
Express Bike Works(EBW) is one of the fastest growing two-wheeler service center in the world. Founded by a team of passionate bikers and IIT-IIM alumni Niraj Taksande, Bhushan Karn and Jigar Vora. EBW today has over 20 service stations across India and is also operational in five other countries.
Conventionally, bike wash and service centers in India use more than 50 liters of water per bike and let the water run out on the streets adding to the sludge. This water is also hazardous, both to the washer as well as to the environment, because it is mixed with hard chemicals used in washing.
EBW has been relentlessly working towards changing the dynamics of the bike servicing industry and have designed, developed and manufactured a machine which holds a world record of washing bike in 2 mins and uses only 10 liters of water per bike. The used water is constantly recycled up to the level that it can no longer get recycled and then the waste water is used for gardening purpose around the outlets. The sludge generated from the bike wash is also used for gardening purpose. The chemical used for washing are environment friendly so that the waste water and the sludge can be reused.
About EBW: Founded in early 2013, Express Bike Works is a brand of Entropy Innovations, an engineering innovations company that has disrupted the two-wheeler service industry. The team, alumni of IIT & IIM, has designed and manufactured India’s first fully automated motorcycle wash machine that addresses multitude of problems faced by an individual owner as well as a service station. The machine is capable of washing even the dirtiest of motorcycle within 2-5 minutes, which is the fastest in the world, capable of washing over 230 bikes in under 10 hours.
Starting with a few retail touch points in Mumbai under the name – ‘The EBW Store’ the company has now forayed into international markets. The company has one manufacturing unit in Mumbai.
The “EBW Store” promises to offer its customers an unparalleled experience in bike care and on-road assistance anywhere in India. The machine has been designed and manufactured in house by the team and has a provisional patent. The store creates employment opportunities for individuals thus contributing to the overall progress of the country and the economy. The EBW concept has improved the overall working conditions for the employees involved in the Bike works industry.
