‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in Maharashtra Postal Circle - 2018
As a precursor to the launch of 150th birth anniversary
celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, and in the run up of 4th anniversary
of Swachh Bharat Mission, Department of Posts, Maharashtra Circle observed “Swachhata
Hi Sewa 20018” (SHS) fortnight from 15th
September 2018 to 2nd October 2018 during which various cleanliness
activities were undertaken such as Shramadan in Post Offices, cleaning of
Postal Colonies, weeding out of old records, conducting rallies for generating
awareness about Swachhta in General public, Tree Plantation in Postal colonies,
awareness campaigns around better sanitation practices like using a toilet,
hand washing, health and hygiene awareness,
mechanised cleaning of toilets etc.
A leaflet on ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ awareness campaign was prepared with an
aim to increase people participation in realising the vision of Clean India. In
this leaflet 10 best Swachhta practices in Hindi and English such as
segregation of wet and dry garbage, keeping of surroundings clean, not
littering on roads, discouraging use of plastic, using toilets, washing hands
properly after use of toilets, tree plantation etc. are given. The leaflets were distributed throughout the
Maharashtra Circle including Goa in schools / colleges through Public Relation
Inspectors, to each households through Postmen, and to members of public at
Post Office counters.
The Maharashtra Postal Circle is committed to further the cause of
“Swachh Bharat”.
