Top seed Abhishek and Tushar dominate on day 2

Mumbai 6th August: Top seed Abhishek Pradhan of Maharashtra started his campaign on a high with an 11-7, 11-3, 11-2 over Harkeerat Gill of Punjab at the Otters Club Squash Open 2019, co-sponsored by Mahindra Rise and played at the Otters Club Squash Courts on Tuesday.  Tushar Shahani also had a field day winning both his  U-19 and Men's matches to advance to the next round. 


Abhishek who started his campaign from the 2nd round after 1st round walkover got into the groove right from the first game. Harkeerat started well but Abhishek did not let him settle and pushed hard to take the first game 11-7. After the first game, it was Abhishek who dominated the proceedings and with him making no errors Harkeerat found it tough to breakthrough and succumbed to an 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 defeat against the top seed. 

Tushar Shahani of Maharashtra who is seeded 5th in the Men's started his campaign with a match against an unseeded Husain Lunavad. Husain was no match to Tushar who launched into him and took the game 11-3, 11-5, 11-4 in straight games without breaking a sweat. Later in the day, Tushar played his 2nd match of the day against unseeded Rishabh Nigam of Maharashtra in the Boy's U-19 category. Tushar, who is seeded 2nd and a favourite to win this category played with the same intensity and dished out the same treatment as his earlier opponent to overpower Rishabh 11-2, 11-4, 11-4 and advance to the next round. 

In a boy's U-17 match, Top seed Neel Joshi made short work of Dev Dalmia defeating him 11-1, 11-3, 11-3 to advance to the 2nd round. Meanwhile, 2nd Seed Shreyas Mehta also faced no challenge and ran through Vaidya Adhiraj Singh Patel 11-3, 11-3, 11-2.
