Public Procurement Policies Must Not Deprive Patients Their Access To Innovative And Quality Medical Devices

Overlooking the fact that the HS codes are not monolithic, a blanket declaration has been made that for the 19 categories of medical devices listed in the said notice only class I local suppliers which have a local content of at least 50% shall be eligible to bid. Each of these categories may comprise of many sub-categories, several of which may not even be manufactured in India thus putting the patients at risks. The Public Procurement Order has come as a big surprise to the Industry in the absence of thorough stakeholder consultations and those consultations which may have been held were marked with tokenism. HPCL acquires balance 50% stake in Chhara LNG Terminal

 by Shrutee K/DNS Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has acquired the balance 50% equity stake in ‘HPCL Shapoorji Energy Private Limited (HSEPL)’ from M/s S P Ports Pvt Ltd on 30 th March 2021.   Post-acquisition, HPCL’s stake in HSEPL gets enhanced to 100%, making HSEPL a wholly owned subsidiary of HPCL. HSEPL is constructing a 5 MMTPA Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal at Chhara, Gujarat at a project cost of about Rs 4300 crore which is likely to be completed by end of calendar year 2022.   The Terminal will have all facilities for receipt of LNG through ocean going tankers, marine unloading, storage, LNG Road Tanker loading, regasification, and supply of regasified LNG to the gas grid.   The project is further expandable to a capacity of 10 MMTPA in future. The acquisition is in line with overall future strategy of HPCL to diversify its product portfolio and is an important step in the direction of having a strong presence in the total Natural Gas value chain.

He has been appointed to this position by the Central Government.   Shri Ranjan has been with the Bank since 2008. He was Chief General Manager, responsible for steering Bank’s vision and goals including strategic agenda of end-to-end digitisation. Prior to this, he was the head of Treasury operations. Clean-Up Foundation conducts health & COVID 19 vaccination awareness campaign for city’s rag-pickers

by Srutee K/DNS   Mumbai, March 13, 2021 : Continuing its work to help the rag-pickers of Mumbai, Clean-Up Foundation conducted an awareness campaign on improving health and hygiene of the city’s rag-pickers along with creating awareness about the COVID 19 vaccination. The initiative was part of the National Safety Week 2021 drive and was conducted in association with Aasra Welfare Association at ‘H’ West ward of MCGM. The team of Clean-Up Foundation along with a few independent practicing doctors participated in this novel initiative.   During this event, Dr. Jitendra Patil, MBBS and Occupational Health Specialist highlighted the hazards, risks and control measures for health and personal hygiene management. He also shared the importance of COVID-19 vaccination and how safe it is to get oneself vaccinated.
