Mumbai, December 31:  Maanav Shah of Utpal Sanghvi School and Rhiaan Jhaveri of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, were made to work hard by their respective opponents before coming out trumps, winning the boys’ under-15 and under-12 table tennis singles titles respectively in the inaugural Sports For  All  (SFA)-India’s Premier Inter- School  Sporting  System, which is being conducted at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul on Thursday. The Utpal Sanghvi paddler Maanav won a tough opening game but went on to lose the second before he managed to find his range of shots. by Shrutee K/DNS Mumbai, December 25: Amruta Vidyalaya School from Navi Mumbai emerged champions winning the boys’ under-16 volleyball final in the  inaugural Sports For All (SFA)-India’s Premier Inter-School Sporting System, which commenced at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul on Friday. In the summit round, the Navi Mumbai schoolboys staved off a strong, spirited challenge from Chembur Karnatak School from Mumbai before coasting to victory in two straight games. Amruta Vidyalaya prevailed at 25-16, 25-20. There was more joy for the Navi Mumbai school as Suresh Singh was declared as the ‘Player of the match. There was some consolation for the Chembur Karnataka School as their key player won the ‘Best Spiker’ award. Results Volleyball – boys under-16 (final):  Amruta Vidyalaya (Navi Mumbai) bt Chembur Karnataka (Mumbai) 25-16, 25-20. Other awards - Player of the match: Suresh Singh (Amruta Vidyalaya). Para-Fencer Vibash keen to win medal in Rio

Colourful ceremony marks opening of SFA Inter-Schools Games

by Shrutee Kate/DNS Mumbai December 24:  It was a historic day for Mumbai and Indian sports as almost 3000 school kids from 125 schools in the city of Mumbai and New Mumbai were present on the opening day of the inaugural Sports For All (SFA)-India’s Premier Inter-School Sporting System, which commenced at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul.  A colourful ceremony marked the opening of the games and after the children sang the National Anthem, the Games were declared opened. Director and Choreographer Farah Khan was present to watch her daughter had participated in the Judo Competition and won a bronze medal.  The Judo event was managed by Mumbai Judo Association with Asian Judo Champion Cawas Billimoria being present at the competition and was seen encouraging and providing guidance to the kids.
