"The Austrian National Tourist Office held its annual roadshow from the 7th-9th of February 2017. Delegates from local tourist boards, incoming agencies, attractions, hotels and travel partners were part of the roadshow to showcase Austria as a destination for summer 2017. Speaking about the tourist footfall from India, Christine Mukerji, Austrian National Tourist Office (ANTO) India Director, said, “We received around 85,000 visitors from India in 2014, which is almost same as 2013. But the average stay for Indians has increased to 1.9 nights. This year I expect a growth of anywhere between 10% – 15%. Our major source market from India is towards the south namely Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai and also Gujarat has shown a lot of growths.”
The Austrian National Tourist Office (ANTO) is also all set to launch a mobile game ‘Snapshot Austria’ exclusively for the India market. The game focuses on promoting various destinations in the country like Salzburg, Vienna and Tyrol. The game will be available on both Android and iOS platform and will also include a lucky draw wherein the winners will get a chance to fly to Austria.
Speaking of the applications, Christine Mukerji added, “Since last few months we wanted to launch something new for the Indian market. According to our observations, Indians love to travel and play. We are all set to launch the new game ‘Snapshot Austria’ in the next two to three weeks, as of now the game is under trial. First we will launch this game in India and later on we will plan to launch it in the Emirates, Jordan and China.” “We are expecting an increase of nearly 20-30 per cent from India in 2017. India climbed to the 29th position from 42nd last year in terms of source markets in 2016 and we hope to see India in our top 10 source markets soon,” said Isabella Rauter, Team Manager-Media Management, Vienna Tourist Board. The city of Innsbruck recorded 51,000 Indian overnights in 2016 corresponding to a 5 per cent growth over 2015. “With an increase in number of Indian arrivals to Innsbruck, we are now the second most popular destination in Austria after Vienna for Indian visitors. We have some very exciting projects with Bollywood coming up in Innsbruck. The Yash Raj Film-Tiger Zinda Hai, featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will be shot in.
The Austrian National Tourist Office recently held its annual roadshow in three cities in India i.e. Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. Delegates from local tourist boards, incoming agencies, attractions, hotels and travel partners were part of the roadshow to showcase Austria as a destination for summer 2015.
