Abhishek Kapoor walks the ramp at LFW for Swades Foundation
 

Mumbai, March 26,2013 -Abhishek Kapoor, writer and director of Kai Po Che and Rock On! Walked the ramp last night along with his girlfriend Pragya Yadav at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer-Resort 2013 on the theme of celebration of rural India for Ronnie Screwvala and Zarina Mehta’s, Swades foundation dedicated towards the empowerment of rural India. Designer, Vikram Phadnis partnered with the foundation, for his fashion show and dedicated his line to this cause.
 
“It was an amazing experience to be a part of this grand show and to be associated with a such a great cause. A huge shout out to Ronnie and Zarina for this foundation and wish them all the success for this noble endeavor ” states Abhishek Kapoor
 
Swades foundation , under its former brand name SHARE (Society to Heal Aid Restore Educate), in the last five years has provided 39,000 people in 139 villages in rural Maharashtra with drinking water. Swades sees empowering communities with choices for themselves and their families, the capability of transforming their own lives.

Bringing together the power of technology with the world’s most efficient network of Mumbai d abbawalas , it was launched after a successful beta testing phase.  Papers N Parcels, the app-based courier service, has tied up with the Mumbai Dabbawalas to leverage the award-winning network of over 5000 dabbawalas  for door-to-door delivery and pick-up of packages within Mumbai City limits. Every dabbawalla who doubles up as a courier boy, carries an Android phone loaded with the Papers N Parcels app to take orders for pick-up or delivery. Mayor praises the footballing talent of Mumbai as he announces young stars will travel to London

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced the names of the successful youngsters on the first day of his trade mission to India. Sadiq was attending the ninth annual finals day of the Mumbai Soccer Challenge and watched a challenge match to win the inaugural Mayor of London Cup. He confirmed that, for the first time in the scheme’s nine-year history, two girls as well as two boys will be heading to London. The Mayor was joined at the finals day by Bollywood screen legend and the co-owner of Mumbai City football club, Ranbir Kapoor, as well as the Chairman of Queens Park Rangers, Tony Fernandes.
