Mumbai, March 18: Having found instant success in the inaugural year, Colaba Sports League (CSL), has set the wheels in motion for the conduct of the second edition, by unveiling a new video, which features the theme song, and the new logo. Gracing the event was Honourable Shri Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons and Shri Aditya Thackeray, Head of Yuva Sena, a youth wing of Shiv Sena and Chairman of MDFA. Both the eminent personalities, Tata and Thackeray, unveiled the Logo and the Video, in the presence of distinguished guests, which included WIFA and MDFA office bearers and executive committee members, club officials, footballers and well-wishers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tata said: “It’s a great pleasure to be here. I have been a resident of Colaba for the past 20-30 years. I had this opportunity to go to Malabar Hill, but there is no sense of community there. Colaba has a great spirit, and a great area to live. At the same time it’s necessary to hold nice games for growing boys, and have something to make sure that they are occupied and not distracted. Football is obviously the binding game that brings people together and helps build community spirit and team spirit. I have no doubt that whatever little bit  we can do to give this whole effort, this whole initiative and give to it the sense of belonging, it is going to be the boys that makes Colaba the next home of football stars of tomorrow.” “I would like to compliment everybody that is involved and who, are working mindlessly and with no selfish intent to create this tournament. I wish you all the best of luck and to the young team great success and hope to see you in the international scene in the years to come,” he said with a sense of encouragement.

Aditya Thackeray lauded the efforts of the organizers. “I would like to congratulate the people involved for creating the CSL. I am not congratulating you for the CSL initiative. But I want to congratulate you for only one reason. It is the presence of a very great man, Shri Ratan Tata, who is sitting here, with us. I have read a lot about him and whatever I have always read is that whatever he believes in and is a part of, is a great success. And I consider that what is written in the CSL, is the Colaba Success League,” said Thackeray. “I wish CSL all the luck and all the success for the second edition. The Colaba Sports League has started here, but we need participation from all over Mumbai and Maharashtra. We have to take football to every gully, every nook and corner that we can take the sport to and let’s try and take Indian football to a new height,” he further stated.

Shri Krishna Pawle, Chairman, CSL in his welcome note said: “We have gathered for a common interest and to express our love for football. It’s a proud moment for the citizens of Colaba that the Honourable Shri Ratan Tata was present to witness last year’s final and his presence today for the launch of the video and logo has given us the much required encouragement to organize this tournament. Shri Adityaji Thackeray, Chairman MDFA, by being part of CSL has given our youth the much needed energy and confidence required to progress in sports. He has the passion to take football to a higher level and he has been putting his heart and soul for development and to uplift the sport in the city.
“I am sure that with the blessing of Mr. Tata, the shining star of India and with the vision of Adityaji the bright young star of Maharashtra, CSL is certain to reach the sky and help Colaba shine,” Pawle further stated.
The 2nd Colaba Sports League (CSL) is scheduled to commence from April 9, 2016 and will be played under floodlights at the Cooperage stadium. A total of eight teams will battle it out for the top honours.
