Bodyline FC retain MDFA women’s crown

The victorious Bodyline FC players are seen in a jubilant mood as they pose with the ‘Champions Trophy’ along with the Chief Guest, Shri Bhagat Kalia, Joint Secretary, Daman & Diu, Member of Parliament and MDFA Chairman, Shri Aditya Thackeray and other MDFA Executive Committee Members. Mumbai, April 22: Bodyline SC for the second successive year emerged champions winning the women’s crown in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016 and played at the Karnatak Sporting Association ground, Cross Maidan on Friday evening.


In an engrossing summit clash, Bodyline riding on the brilliance of Kimberley Fernandes who scored from two long range efforts in the first half, managed to get the better of debutants Aadhar Pratishthan SC by a 2-1 margin.

The energetic Kimberley rocked the Pratishthan citadel in the 9thminute with a powerful long 25-yard shot. She repeated the effort five minutes later firing in another snap shot to double the lead. Pratishthan pulled one back in the second session when Devangi Maheshwari successfully converted a penalty in the 52nd minute.
Kimberley was rightly adjudged as the ‘Best player of the tournament’ and was presented with a cash award of Rs 3,000.
Bodyline received the ‘Champions trophy’ and a cash award of Rs 35,000 from Chief Guest, Shri Bhagat Kalia, Joint Secretary, Daman & Diu, Member of Parliament and MDFA Chairman, Shri Aditya Thackeray. Aadhar Pratishthan received the runners-up trophy and a cash award of Rs 20,000.
Results – Women’s League (final):  Bodyline FC 2 (Kimberley Fernandes 9th, 16th) beat Aadhar Pratishthan 1 (Devangi Maheshwari 52nd).
