Mumbai Becomes the Third Destination Worldwide to Receive Lufthansa’s A350-900 and the Second Indian Destination after New Delhi

Mumbai : India’s leading European Airline Lufthansa, will operate its daily flight between Mumbai and Munich with the most modern long-haul aircraft of the world, the Airbus A350-900. In addition to increased capacity, the innovative new aircraft raises the benchmark on efficiency and travel comfort, reaffirming Lufthansa’s commitment to Indian customers. Mumbai becomes the third destination worldwide to receive Lufthansa’s A350-900 and the second Indian destination after New Delhi.

To mark first flights passengers on the new aircraft on board LH764 and LH765 from Munich and Mumbai were given a special commemorative certificate and an iPad cover, specially handcrafted by economically disadvantaged women of Purkal Stree Shakti Samiti. Additionally, an ‘insta photo booth’ was created at the departure terminal that allowed passengers to capture moments of their journey with Lufthansa’s A350-900.

Lufthansa A350-900: The Lufthansa A350-900 is the world's most modern and environmental friendly long-haul aircraft. In comparison with similar types of aircraft it consumes 25 percent less fuel and produces 25 percent fewer emissions. The noise footprint is up to 50 percent smaller than comparable aircraft types. The aircraft offers Lufthansa’s best on-board product, assuring passengers the highest level of comfort in all travel classes, with a wider cabin, new seats in Economy Class, bigger windows, large TV screens, innovative mood lighting, personalized playlist and much more. The Lufthansa A350-900 is configured to seat 293 passengers: 48 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class.
The features offered by the on board entertainment system on the Airbus A350-900 are likewise leading edge. Passengers can make a selection from the onboard program from home before setting off to the airport adding their favorite items to a playlist. To make use of this functionality, passengers simply download the "Lufthansa Companion App" onto their own tablet or mobile phone. The on board program is available up to six weeks in advance. Once on board the Lufthansa Airbus A350-900, passengers synchronize their personal favorite playlists with the screen in front of the seat, and they even have the option of using their own mobile device as a second screen.
Lufthansa is the first airline worldwide to use a range of different settings for the on-board lighting of the A350-900 which are designed to fit with the day and night-time biorhythms of the passengers by providing the right type of light at the right time. Lighting effects will also be used to emulate a pleasant restaurant atmosphere on board during mealtimes. Altogether, the new A350-900 LED technology can provide around 24 different lighting settings.
