Foxconn Ties Up with Mozilla to Develop Firefox 0S Tablets

Foxconn, world's leading manufacturer of computer components and systems, today announced its tie up with Mozilla to develop tablets based on Firefox OS tablets. Taiwan-based chipmaker VIA Technologies will be joining the project.

This partnership is aimed at offering hardware, software and application designers opportunities to develop Firefox OS-based products. Mozilla will provide operating system (OS), development guides and OS upgrades and maintenance, while Foxconn will provide its expertise in developing hardware platforms.

With Foxconn's high-quality and inexpensive tablets and Mozilla's broadly available software Firefox OS, the product could become one among the top players in tablet market, especially in developing countries.
