The maiden edition of School of Speed will take place on Feb 9th in Mumbai at the MMRDA Grounds, followed by Delhi on Feb 15th at the JNU Campus, with the Bangalore date yet to be confirmed, and is expected to host more than 250 teams in each city.

PUMA launched their latest initiative with the face of School of Speed, Indian cricketer- Yuvraj Singh. Talking about School of Speed, Yuvraj said – “As a child I was always active, playing cricket, running or cycling. But today’s generation prefer gaming to playing real games, through School of Speed we want them to discover the simple joy of running. Through School of Speed we want to further inspire children to take up running or any sport at a grass root level”

The event saw Yuvraj Singh, PUMA India MD- Rajiv Mehta and former Athletics Champion Ashwini Nachappa engage in a lively and intellectual discussion on the current scenario on running and fitness among children in India.

Rajiv Mehta, PUMA India MD said – “As a father of two and a runner I want my kids to be active and take sport seriously. Exercise is very important for the holistic development of any child and we at PUMA recognize that. School of Speed is positioned to get students to take up running at an early stage.”

The first edition of School of Speed is scheduled to kick off in Mumbai on the 9th of February followed by Delhi on the 15th of February (Bangalore TBC). In a unique format all four children from each team will run a total of 4Km together.  Teams have been categorized into two age groups of juniors from 7th-8th grade and seniors from 9th-10th grade for boys and girls both.

School of speed concludes with the announcement of the fastest school in each city along with the fastest city in India. The national winners in both senior boys and girls categories will get a chance to meet the fastest man on Earth – the one and only Usain Bolt!
