Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals Govt. Of India and FICCI announces the launch of India Chem 2016

Mumbai, 16th June: In pursuit of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s initiative of “Make in India”, the 9th edition of the mega event “India Chem 2016” will be jointly organized by Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India along with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) from September 1-3, 2016 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India, with the theme “India Chem 2016 – Exploring Opportunities”. The objective of the event is to develop the Indian Chemical and Petrochemical Industry and enhancing trade between India & Foreign Chemical and Petrochemical industry and “Swachh Bharat (Clean India)” campaign of Government  of India.
The launch function of 9th edition of India Chem 2016, the largest event of Chemicals and Petrochemical Industry in India, was held on 16thJune, Thursday here at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel Mumbai. The event brochure was released by Shri Ananth Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India at the ceremony. The event witnessed the attendance of government dignitaries such as Shri Anuj Kumar Bishnoi, Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, Shri Samir Kumar Biswas, Joint Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, Dr. B. R. Gaikwad, Chairman –CHEMEXCIL along with Shri Deepak Mehta, Chairman, FICCI Chemicals Committee & Vice Chairman & MD –Deepak Nitrite Ltd on the Dias with more than 150 industry representatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ananth Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India said, “Chemicals and Petrochemical industry holds a significant place in the overall economic growth of the country. It provides the foundation for the growth of other industries such as fertilizers, pharma, agriculture to name a few. Hence it is imperative for us to ensure the growth of the chemical sector through setting targets and producing reports. Government has taken concrete actions in the direction and has invested 50 billion $ in the sector so far. Govt. has been working relentlessly to tackle challenges faced by the chemical industry such as clearances from environment ministry, infrastructural issues and lack of human resources and has proposed to set up specialized chemical engineering and technology institutes in the country. FICCI and hope to have their continued support in our pursuit of making India the global leader of the chemical industry.  With the consistent efforts and encouragement of the industry bodies the future of chemical industry looks promising and is expected to provide numerous wealth and employment in the country”. Hon’ble Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers has sent the invitation to his counterparts in 37 countries to lead the delegation. With the support of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, the strong efforts will be made to encourage manufacturing in the sector at India Chem 2016. While Gujarat, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh will participate as the Partner States, more than 15 countries are expected to participate at India Chem 2016. Large participation of small scale industries through MSME is also expected at India Chem 2016 apart from the participation of the companies from Process Technology, Pumps & Valves with the support of the Department of Heavy Industries, Govt. of India.

About India Chem :The largest event of Chemicals and Petrochemical Industry in India, in its 9th edition i.e. India Chem 2016 would be organized from 1st – 3rd September 2016 jointly by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Government of India and FICCI. The most important objective behind organizing the India Chem event is to highlight the investment possibilities in the country’s chemical industry and give a fillip to “Make in India” initiative of the Govt. of India. Leading companies from India as well as from all over the world predominantly from China, Japan, Iran, Turkey, United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, Spain, Germany and South East Asian countries are participating as exhibitors, delegates and visitors.
