CII Task Force on Business Continuity and Risk Management to activate greater corporate resiliency to combat newer challenges and risks


CII announced the formation of its Task Force on BCM and Risk Management today, and set its focus to guide and promote services offering in the area of Business Continuity Management and Risk Management, which in turn would help industry.
Mr. S. Mahalingam, Chairman – CII Task Force on BCM and Risk Management, and Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Tata Consultancy Services said, “CII has always been at the forefront of taking steps to offer new systems and process for its member companies. We believe that the time is right to build and ensure that there is greater awareness and education on the subject of Business Continuity and Risk Management within Indian Industry.”
Mr. S Sivanandan, Advisor to PM on Disaster Management & Ex – DGP Maharashtra Police in his opening speech said, “India is facing new threats everyday – we are trying to eke out a living in a dysfunctional neighbor hood. We need to build resiliency – through public private partner ship and through knowledge sharing – and develop Target Strengthening objectives –and bring resiliency in our business and our lives.”
The CII Task Force on Business Continuity and Risk Management would examine policy, reports, regulatory notifications on general or particular aspects of Business Continuity and Risk Management principles, issued by ministries, regulators, or special bodies and assess their impact on industry and take necessary action. The Task Force would look at developing a much needed PPP model to enhance and create learning platforms for all stake holders, particularly industry, where new developments and best practices are shared.
The intensity of dynamism in the Indian risk environment can be gauged by analyzing that top rated risks are replaced with newer challenges many times within a decade. The CII – Pinkerton Report on BCM and Risk Management brings to focus, “The other most perilous factor influencing Indian environment is velocity of the situation deterioration. These and many other tests mandate Business Continuity Managers relentlessly evolve their solutions, plans, tests and ability to envisage the future.
