Thousands of developers achieve Guinness World Record at Windows AppFest


Bengaluru, September 22, 2012: Today, thousands of developers made history by setting a world record for the Most Participants in a Software Development Marathon in One Location at KTPO, Bengaluru. The record has been set at 2567 developers coding non-stop for 18 hours. Developers came from all over India and beyond to participate in the event hosted by Microsoft -- building, designing and testing apps for the Windows platform.

Emceed by Gaurav Kapoor and Roshan Abbas, the event was filled with activities throughout the day and night including performances from DJRink, rock band Swarathma and morning yoga sessions. And of course, developers building new apps for Windows.  As the clock struck 8 am, the world's largest app marathon was realized.  Paul , Vice President Guinness World Records Commercial announced Microsoft's entry into the Guinness World Records for the Most Participants in a Software Development Marathon in One Location. A certificate validating the record was presented to Jon DeVaan, Corporate Vice President for Windows Development at Microsoft and Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd,the worldwide leader in software for personal and business computing. 

At the closing of the Windows Appfest, said, congratulations to all of the developers at the Windows AppFest for setting an official Guinness World Record for the Most Participants in a Software Development Marathon in One Location. The spectacle of thousands of developers toiling through the night has demonstrated great commitment to their work.

Mayor praises the footballing talent of Mumbai as he announces young stars will travel to London

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced the names of the successful youngsters on the first day of his trade mission to India.
