Mumbai, Sept 26, 2012: Tourism Malaysia today announced the 12th edition of the Malaysia International Gourmet festival which will run through the entire month of October, making it one month of delightful treats right from the 1st through to the 31st of the month. For the entire Festival month of October, thirty of MalaysiaⳠfinest restaurants will be serving up Special Festival Menus at Special Festival prices accompanied by a host of Special Festival Offers. Al-Amar, Bunga Emas, Circus, Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie, Dynasty, Enak KL, Grill 582, Five Sen5es, Imperial Rama, L⠈eritage, Lai Po Heen, Makan Kitchen, Mandarin Grill, Nerovivo, New Orleans Bar & Grill, Onsemiro, Prego, Sagano, Qba Latin Bar & Grill, Samplings on the Fourteenth, Senja, The Emperor, The Japanese Fine Dining, The Pomelo, West Lake Garden, The Restaurant and The Garden are the participant restaurants in the festival.

The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival made its debut in September 2001 with an intrepid band of 13 restaurants from Kuala Lumpur taking part in the inaugural KL International Gourmet Festival (KLIGF). This festival in itself was a challenge to overcome given that around a decade ago most Malaysians perceived fine dining as over priced, high value and not of comparative quality as one would like. However over the years with the advent of fusion and with the influx of brave young chefs who dared to change and adapt to the tastes of the discerning customer, the dining scene has seen a paradigm change with both locals and tourists accepting the new experiences that were afforded by these restaurants. The festival not only caters to the tastes of the tourists alone but also to the local Malay population who are indeed the strong base of diners that make the festival a success.
This festival is a celebration of all tastes, styles, techniques and flavors.
Malaysia welcomed 693,056 Indian tourists in the year 2011. Tourist arrivals rose to 24,714,324 compared to 24,577,196 in 2010 while receipts climbed to RM58.3 billion compared to RM56.5 billion the previous year.
Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, popularly known as Tourism Malaysia, was established to promote Malaysia as a top-of-mind tourist destination showcasing Malaysia's unique wonders, attractions and cultures; develop domestic tourism and enhance Malaysia's share of the market for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE). Tourism Malaysia's objective is to promote Malaysia as an outstanding tourist destination and make the tourism industry a major contributor to the socio-economic development of the nation. In India, Tourism Malaysia offices are conveniently located in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
