Mumbai: Millions of Mumbaikars using toilets at the Churchgate Station, one of India’s busiest railway stations, will now be able to access more hygienic and cleaner restrooms. As VIS Group’s Clean India Technology Week gets underway, last night the public toilets were subjected to a deep cleaning process where state of the art equipment and cleaning agents were used to spruce up the urinals and associated areas.

“Virtual Info Systems has organized a massive cleanliness campaign, Clean India Roadshows as part of Clean India Technology Week, the first of which will took place last night at Churchgate station. A team of professionals conducted a ‘Deep Mechanised Cleaning’ of washrooms at the station with state of the art equipment and cleaning agents. The cleaning is now being followed up with maintenance and regular cleaning that will continue until tomorrow. The cleaning activity was carried out by a professional team of ten janitors and two supervisors for approximately four to five hours,” says Mangala Chandran, Director-VIS Group.

The operations at Churchgate station were carried out by Sanjay Maintenance Services and will be followed by a similar cleaning operation at KEM Hospital. "Public spaces like Churchgate demand deep cleaning on regular basis. Adequate hygiene level at such spaces can only be maintained through a disciplined and methodical approach. Users also have to be made aware of the importance of cleaning and hygiene at public spaces. If washrooms and toilets are not left as they were or wrappers or chewing gum are thrown inside the water flow could get blocked and create unhygienic conditions. The roadshows starting yesterday are a small step in this direction," adds Mangala Chandran.

Clean India Technology Week is a one of its kind private initiative held to address the cleanliness aspect from a public perspective. The road shows will be followed by five concurrent Expos: 13th Clean India Pulire; Car Care Expo; IFS Expo; Waste Technology India Expo and Laundrex India to be held on January 21-23 at Bombay Exhibition & Convention Centre, Mumbai. Clean India Technology Week yet again will showcase some of the latest technological advancements and innovations that have happened in the industry over the years.

“In addition to this we will also be holding the 2nd Clean India Awards that will reward accomplishments by individuals, corporations and Government bodies across categories,” concludes Mangala Chandran.
