Riddhi Shetty will captain the Maharashtra state girl's team

Mumbai : Riddhi Shetty of Thane District Football Association (TDFA) will captain the Maharashtra state grils’ team that will participate in the Sub-Junior Girls National Football Championship - 2015-16 and to be played in Cuttack, Odisha from January 18.
The state team was put through a gruelling two weeks of training and physical fitness under watchful eyes of Head Coach Jeddy Almeida, an AFC ‘B’ License holder, Manager Annie Paul and Phyiso Dhwani Panchal, at the Cooperage ground. The Maharashtra team were accorded a warm sent off by WIFA Hon. Secretary, Souter Vaz and other WIFA officials at the CST Station on Thursday evening.


Vaz spoke word of encouragement to the players. “I am confident that you girls will give your best efforts. Just play good positive football and in a fair, sporting spirit so that you make us (WIFA) proud. With the guidance and support of  coach Jeddy, manager Annie and physio Dhawani,you are in good hands,” Vaz told the team before their departure. Maharashtra take on Uttarkhand in the opening match on January 18 and the meet Jharkhand on January 22. They will have to top the group to qualify for the next phase of the tournament.

The Maharashtra team: Anagha Janakkiraman, Trevina Fernandes, Ritika Goveas, Florian Pereira, Kyra Agarwal, Avanti Singh, Sai Sankhe, Deneise Pereira, Ash D’Silva, Diya Parikh (all Mumbai), Bincy Babu, Paromita Chakravorty, Riddhi Shetty (Captain), Mahek Kala, Priyanka Danawale, Shreya Prabhu, Ishwari Khurana (goalkeeper) (Thane), Gia Sundaram (Pune), Mitali Chavhan (goalkeeper - Jalgaon).
