Admissions to Ashoka University, a pioneer in Liberal Arts and Sciences Education in India, are now open for the current round which will close on April 2, 2018. The deadline is subject to change depending on the Grade XII board examinations. The academic year for the fifth batch of undergraduates will begin on August 18, 2018.
The University strengthened its Sciences department as it launched pure majors in Physics and Biology from the academic year 2017-2018. Chemistry as a pure major will be available to students later this year. Through sophisticated labs for Biology, Physics and Chemistry with high-end research equipment, the University aims to enable students to gain exposure to research, experimentation and understand a subject through hands-on experience, right from the undergraduate level. (Please see below for full list of UG Degree courses at Ashoka University).
You can apply for a three-year B.A. (Hons) or B.Sc. (Hons) degree from a range of pure and interdisciplinary majors. A fourth year postgraduate diploma programme is also open to all Ashoka University graduates who would like to conduct further research in an academic discipline of their choice or pursue an internship in the social sector.
There are no barriers or high school requirements to access a degree in Biology at Ashoka. However, during the degree, students are expected to take courses in Mathematical Biology/Biophysics. In order to major in Physics, the student is required to have taken Mathematics (including calculus) up to Class 12.
Liberals Arts and Sciences is a wide ranging, multi-disciplinary offer which also includes Degrees in Economics and Computer Sciences. Students can design their own course components in discussion with faculty and their own interests. A Major is the subject in which a student will earn a Bachelors’ degree – either a B.A. or a B.Sc. The Interdisciplinary major at Ashoka goes beyond the traditional boundaries of disciplines and departments to give students an opportunity to combine multiple academic interests into a single degree programme. They explore new approaches to the study of particular fields to give students a single, interdisciplinary Bachelors’ degree. Ashoka offers the following programmes.
