Leading Juniors to Participate in Rotary Cup Tennis Championship

Mumbai, January 24: Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-City (district 3141) will be conducting the second ROTARY Championship Series 2018, which is an All India Ranking Tennis Tournament for Boys’ & Girls’ Under-14, at the MSLTA’s Dr. G.A. Ranade Tennis Centre, Cooperage Road on February 10 and 11, 2018.
The tournament which is a National level tennis tournament will consist of two categories, boys’ singles and girls’ singles. All the leading players from across India are expected to participate in this two-day event, this was announced by Rotarian Bharat Parekh, Past President, Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-City, at a press conference at the MSLTA on Wednesday afternoon.
“Last year we joined hands with MSLTA to organise this tournament for youngsters. Rotary Club is always keen to encourage young children and help to build leadership qualities in the youngsters. We will work hard in the build up to this event and try to make it more popular,” said Parekh.
Jhankar Gadkari, District President, Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-City, said, “Rotary has a few objectives and one of them is promotion of the GenX. We would like to support them in whichever way, whether its sports, academics or any other field. We want to channelize the energy of the youth in to being more proactive and provide them with all the support and encouragement. That is why we have been working with MSLTA to ensure the comfort level of the participants which is a good way for the encouragement of the sports.”
Manoj Vaidya, CEO, MSLTA lauded the efforts of Rotary Club Bombay Mid-City and happy to be associated with them. “The Rotary Club members do a good job. They work collectively and take good care of the children. This does not happen in other junior events,” pointed out Vaidya.
The tournament is expected to attract over 120 kids. The winners and runners-up will be presented with the Rotary Cup and cash prizes and would also earn AITA ranking points.
