Mumbai,
15th January 2018: Parle
Tilak Vidyalaya Association (PTVA) recently organized a history exhibition,
"Bhartiya Etihas – Ek Darshan" to highlight India’s iconic history by
focusing on prodigious heroes and events from the past. In the presence of BMC
Education Officer Mr. Mahesh Palkar, around 200 students from various schools
run by PTVA put up an audio-visual and interactive exhibition picturizing the
era from 1200 to 1947. It was a student-led initiative with students from
PTV Marathi medium, PTV English medium, SSC & ICSE, PTV's English Medium
School, Andheri and Paranjpe Vidyalaya Marathi medium school, being the
participants in the exhibition. The exhibition was the outcome of concentrated
efforts of the Principals, teaching and non-teaching staff of all these
schools.
The
exhibition presented the glorious span of 747 years of Indian History through handmade
charts, models, pictures, live demonstration of important events in the
history, 3D presentations and audio-visuals making it an interesting and
receptive display.
Shri. Anil
Ganu, President of PTVA said, “Being an association with close to 98
years of existence, PTVA has always focused on delivering
experiential learning to their students. This exhibition was an enriching
experience for all the students as it focused on an alternative way of learning
and exploring their creativity. The main aim was to bring all major events of
history under one roof and make this subject more interesting and lively
through dramatizations and presentations.”
Commenting
on the event Shri. Mahesh Palkar said, “By presenting 747 years of
Indian history, the students have done a great job in creating curiosity in
otherwise unadorned history sessions. Learning about our history will be a
great source of inspiration for the students as well as the community towards
their mission in life. By displaying the same through interesting characters
and weaving them into a larger story, students are better able to understand
the intricacies of important events and contributions made by great
personalities.”
PTVA initiated
this activity to create awareness and generate a sense of curiosity among
students about India’s history. It was aimed at bringing history out of
the books and depicting various actions of the people in and around the
world that have affected the Indian civilization. The
responses received from the students of various other schools and also from
other visitors to the exhibition showed that the exhibition succeeded in
achieving its aim.
