Belmond Reid's Palace Announces the First "The Art of Flavours" Gastronomic Festival

Belmond Reid’s Palace is proud to announce “The Art of Flavours”, an annual gastronomic festival that will take place from the 8th to 10th June 2018. Luís Pestana, Executive Chef of Belmond Reid’s Palace and the Michelin-starred William Restaurant, has invited 7 fellow Michelin Star Chefs to create an adventure of flavours, showcasing the best of Europe’s culinary talent.

Pedro Lemos of Pedro Lemos Restaurante in Porto, Portugal, 1 Michelin Star;
Sergi Arola of LAB by Sergi Arola – Penha Longa Resort in Sintra, Portugal, 1 Michelin Star
Vitor Matos of Antiqvvm in Porto, Portugal, 1 Michelin Star;
COOKING WITH MICHELIN STAR CHEFS
The first day event will be exclusively available for Belmond Reid’s Palace guests. In the beautiful surroundings of Belmond Reid’s Palace, Green House, Chef Michel Van Der Kroft of ‘t Nonnetje in Holland and Chef David Bisetto from Belmond Hotel Cipriani will be sharing their expertise and knowledge with two brilliant masterclasses.
FOOD PARTY
The lavish outdoor party on the 9th June will gather brilliant Chefs, wine makers and producers from all over the world. Among more than 20 stalls, food and wine lovers would be able to enjoy an incredible range of flavours beautiful plated in fine china from Vista Alegre. The stand-up dinner will offer a journey through high quality products, where the Pommery Champagne will mark an adventure that will finish at the dessert corner, where handmade chocolates and exquisite pastry will sweeten the end of a special night.
The 7 Michelin Star Chefs will be live cooking through the sound of DJ Yen Sung, recognized by one of the best DJ’s in Portugal. To be held in the unique pool area of the Hotel and with a privileged view over Funchal’s Bay, guests will still be able to enjoy Madeira Atlantic Festival, a magnificent pyromusical show.
Ciriaco Campus, General Manager of Belmond Reid’s Palace says “This one-evening-only experience will be the perfect occasion to mingle and learn from Michelin Star Chefs. We want to thrill the taste buds of our guests by offering an uncountable number of flavours in a unique setting.”
STARS DINNER
The festival will end with a once-in-life event where all 8 Michelin-starred Chefs will join hands and minds to bring an exquisite nine-course menu at the William Restaurant.
The tasting menu will be paired with wines specially selected by Niepoort, producers of distinctive ports and Douro wines and served by the invited Sommelier André Franco and Alberto Luz from Belmond Reid’s Palace.
While Chef Sergi Arola has chosen the caviar and foie gras as main ingredients, Pedro Lemos will homage the local fish by presenting a bluefin tuna with mushrooms and wasabi. Luís Pestana will use Madeira wine to flavour Wagyu beef and will include truffles, foie-gras and secret Madeiran ingredients and Pedro Campas, the Pastry Chef of Belmond Reid’s Palace will close the experience with the unique desert - Flavours with tradition - passion fruit, cottage cheese and honey cake.
The Food Party on the 9th June will start at 7.30 pm and it’s priced at 140.00 € per person while the Stars Dinner on the 10th June is priced at 200.00 € per person and starts at 7.30 pm.
