Prof. Prehad Anant Dhond's painting exhibition is end after seven days by hug response of people
The Exhibition of watercolor was organized in
Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai on occasion of the 111th birth anniversary of
Indian Genius Nature Painter Prof. Prahlad Anant Dhond. Watercolor painting
exhibition was held from 11 June 2019 to 17 June 2019. In the exhibition of watercolor paintings
were organized 111 watercolor paintings. Exhibition has got a very good
response to the seven-days. More than 20,000 watercolor picture lovers have
visited to this exhibition. The first picture which was drawn by Prof.Dhond in
1931 and the last picture drawn in 2000 were organised in this exhibition. The
views of Fort, Churchgate of Mumbai, Sunset, a person seeks ways seaside,
Konkon's nature which gives pleasure to eyes, fluttering waves, fishing
fishermen, etc. Paintings were included
in this Exhibition.
A renowned cartoonist and the chief Maharashtra
Navnirman Sena Raj Thackeray, MLA and President, BJP Ashish Shelar, Indian film
and theater personality Arun Nalawade and others were present in this
watercolor picture exhibition. Former Dean of the J. J. School of Arts,
Students of the J. J. School of Arts, students of other arts colleges, and
young teacher of Painting class also visited to this exhibition with their
students. Not only in Mumbai but from all over the Maharashtra, artists,
teachers and students were visited to this exhibition. People had gathered to
see watercolor pictures from Malvan, Konkan, Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Nagpur,
etc.
As per opinion of people who visited to see
paintings exhibition, Prof Dhond has drawn real different sides, colors, form
of sea in their all painting. In the
ninety year of age, Prof. Pralhad Anant Dhond, who was maintained his art by
overcoming his health, this is inspiring to today's generation. Each picture
tells the real truth of life and we learn how to find ways in our life in every
situation. Art is not a matter of discussion but it is a matter of sensible and
emotional experience. On the occasion of the 111th birth anniversary of Prahlad
Anant Dhond, people heartily thanked to Prof. Dhond's grandson Kedar Kamat
because he has given the opportunity to experience of paintings of prof. Dhond.
Prof. P. A. Dhond was born in 1908 in Ratnagiri.
He completed a diploma in Arts in 1934 and then did his Art Master’s in 1937, standing
first in order of Merit. He also worked as the dean of Sir J. J. School of Art
from 1958 to 1968 and then as the Director of Art, Maharashtra State, from 1968
to 1969. His autobiographical book ‘Raapan’ received a State Government’s award
and was also acclaimed by critics in newspapers and readers. Due to his
impressive coating style of water colours and unique handling of landscapes, he
is considered as one of India’s celebrated landscape painters. His exceptional
paintings have been archived at various art galleries, museums and universities
in India. In addition to this, his paintings are also in collection of
well-known institutes of several countries in Germany, USA, South Africa, East
Africa, Russia etc; eminent celebrities and art lovers in various fields.
