GO Womania 2019 Celebrated Women’s Day Weekend by Goregaon Highway Pulse

This year Women’s Day was on a Friday, but the celebrations continued well into the weekend. Goregaon Highway Pulse (GHP) made sure of that! GHP is the city’s only hyper local blog & an online and offline connect for Goregaon. It is founded and run by Anushree Patni, a former lifestyle journalist. “There are many small and medium scale entrepreneurs that deserve a platform”, believes Anushree.

Spread over two days on the 9th and 10th of March at the Lions Club Garden, Goregaon East, the event showcased the best from around the vicinity and beyond. The event was graced by the presence of Sudha Chandran, a name synonym with Bharatnatyam. A beautiful actress, with beautiful words to say about the event. She applauded the women behind the event for putting up such a wonderful platform where everyone is enjoying themselves. “I would have truly missed something great had I not come,” Sudha added. Co-organiser, Bijal Vora, made sure there was ample of choices of activites for the crowd who came in early as they stayed till the end of the day. There was drawing competitions, storytelling sessions, Zen doodling, and a zumba party open to all on both the days.

With an ambience created like that of a flea market, by the event partner Merry Makers, families came and enjoyed a day well spent in the company of their friends. Some even returned the next day, bringing in more friends. They were pleasantly surprised by the Mumbai Drum Circle. The energy they brought to the event was just on a different level!

There were 26 stalls setup all around the space, each one unique. Such kind of events brings the community together and encourages young talent as they participated in the Goregaon’s Got Talent competition. There were participants from all age groups, right from 4yrs to 70! This was judged fairly by the jury which was comprised of members from different professions. “The support they get at the local level will motivate them to go at the bigger stage. A wonderful initiative by GHP,” is what Neha Suradkar, Founder of Style-n-File Makeup & Nail Academy, had to say. She was one of the judges on  Saturday for the semi-final along with Dr. Piyush Raj, Founder of Natanam Studio for Performing Arts. “It is important to do something new and loose your inhibitions and nervousness and give it a try. This venture provides that chance to come out of your comfort zone, and yet in a familiar environment” says Piyush.  And those who cleared that round performed again on Sunday for the final showdown. The judges on Sunday were, Nidhi Puranik, a Fitness Ambassador, and Anubha Sharma, founder of NGO Angel Xpress Foundation. Anubha was happy to be part of the event expressed, “GO Womania was a great platform for a bringing a community together. I thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment arranged by the organizers.” They had some tough decisions to make! With a talent pool so vast, picking the winners was no easy task. As Nidhi said, “What really caught my eye was the age group of participants, ranging from 5 years to 70 years!!That clearly shows that Go Womania 2019 was an event for everybody.”

The high light of Sunday was the open Mic Drop. Five budding comedians, Patrth Gadhavi, Pranit More, Ishaa Wardhan, Andy Reghu and Sankalp Rastogi, had the audience in tears with laughter as they each took to the stage in their distinct style. For the event closing there was Mahek Mirza Prabhu, who engaged the crowd with her unique style of story-telling session.
