Let’s Pledge to have a Healthy Heartbeat, This World Heart Day: AOH
Mumbai, 27th September 2017: The theme on this World Heart Day which is being celebrated on 29th September 2017 is to share how you power your heart to stay healthy and inspires millions of people around the world to be heart healthy. To mark this day, Association of Hospitals (AOH) continues to spread awareness about various cardiovascular diseases and indulges in building a healthy lifestyle.
With this global event AOH, a part of this endeavor wants to spread awareness amongst the individuals, families, communities, organizations and governments in the country to take charge of their heart health and fight against the cardiovascular disease (CVD) burden.
Commenting on the initiative Dr. P M Bhujang – President, Association of Hospitals said “Our aim is to drive action to educate people that by controlling risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, at least 80% of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided. Just a few simple steps such as eating more healthily, cutting down on alcohol and stopping smoking and regular exercise can improve your heart health and your overall wellbeing.”
Almost since half a century of making awareness about the ill-effects of smoking, there is still one in ten deaths caused due to smoking and one in every four men is a daily smoker. Smoking is the second largest risk factor for early death. So to reduce its use the country must implement tobacco control.
Heart disease and stroke are accountable for nearly half of all NCD deaths making it the world’s number one killer and claiming 17.5 million live each year. So we should maintain a healthy lifestyle to reduce such incidence.
About Association of Hospital:
The Association of Hospitals has been formed under the Memorandum dated August 6, 1985 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Association is also registered under Maharashtra Public Trust Act, 1950 as Public Charitable Trust with the office of Charity Commissioner, Maharashtra State.
Presently there are 50 members of the Association and all of them are Public Charitable Trust Hospitals registered under Maharashtra Public Trust Act, 1950 with the concerned offices of Charity Commissioner, Maharashtra State depending upon the Jurisdiction. The members being not-for-profit charitable hospitals render yeomen service to the public and bear a major share of healthcare service to the people.
