NEW DELHI, India, 1
February, 2013 –Ford India sold 7,115
domestic wholesale and exports vehicles in January. Despite persistent market
challenges, the domestic wholesales were 6,062 last month compared to 9,137
units sold in January 2012. Continued demand for the Figo drove export sales of
1,053 units last month compared to 1,652 units exported in January 2012.
“Despite a tough
business environment with hike in fuel prices and ongoing
high interest rates, consumer interest in Ford
vehicles continues to hold steady. Our commitment and long term expansion
strategy for India continue to progress according to our plan. We are committed
to bringing the best of Ford products and technology to India and will be
introducing several new vehicles from the ONE Ford stable to India over the
next few years.” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director, marketing, sales and
service, Ford India.
“To offset the
prevailing tough conditions and introduce buoyancy into the market we hope the
government will introduce regulatory policies that are conducive to the growth
of the automotive industry. We believe that the reduction in the differential
between diesel and petrol prices and recent RBI’s decision to cut repo rate are
progressive steps and should continue,” he added.
Ford India recently
organized its ‘Steal the Deal’ offer during the festival of Pongal and Makar
Sankranti in January, making it a very auspicious day to buy a Ford. The Pongal
and Makar Sankranti festivities continued with the company’s sales outlets in
Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu offering customers attractive benefits and offers
upto Rs 81,000 on various Ford products.
Ford India’s pan-India
network of sales and service outlets too remain on the growth path and has seen
a 25 percent spurt in 2012. Ford India currently has 250 sales and service
outlets in 130 cities across the country. In line with its aggressive expansion
plan for India and in a bid to make ownership of a Ford vehicle more convenient
for customers, the company plans to take the total number of sales and service
touch points to over 500 by mid-decade.
