Haier India Reinforces its Commitment to make UP an Innovative Hub at the Second Ground-breaking Ceremony

Government’s initiative; Haier India to create new opportunities with an
investment of Rs. 3,069 crore in its Second Industrial Park in Greater Noida
New Delhi, 30 July, 2019: Haier, the global leader in
Home Appliances & Consumer Electronics and World’s Number 1 brand in Major
Appliances for 10 Consecutive Years, joined the second ground-breaking ceremony
held by the Uttar Pradesh government in Lucknow on Sunday. During the event,
Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, laid foundation stone of over 250 projects
worth Rs 65,000 crore for which MoUs were signed during the UP Investors' Summit
last year. The event also witnessed presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath, the
state’s Minister for Industrial Development, Shri Satish Mahana, along with
leading industrialists of the country.
Understanding that Uttar Pradesh is a key market,
Haier is investing INR 3069 crores
in UP government’s project to set up its second
Industrial Park in Greater Noida. Followed by the company’s first
manufacturing plant at Ranjangaon in Pune, the new plant is a part of Haier
India’s strategy to meet the rising demand of consumers and generate job
opportunities in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Several interactive sessions, round tables and
meetings followed the foundation ceremony where industrialists discussed potential
opportunities in various sectors and India’s tremendous growth towards ‘Make in
India’. The session on “Investment
Opportunities in Electronics Manufacturing” was moderated by Mr. Alok Sinha, Additional Chief Secretary,
Department of IT & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh and focused
on the growing electronic industry in UP and its future in making the state a
manufacturing hub for electronic equipment.
During the session, Mr. Eric Braganza, President, Haier Appliances India Pvt Ltd, presented
his views on the growing potential of Internet of Things (IoT) in the Indian
market and Haier’s commitment towards Research and Development (R&D) for
paving the way for the future of home appliances in India. He further focused
on the impact of new age technologies which are shaping the reality for smart
homes and the government’s proposed vision of 100 smart cities out of which 11
major smart cities are from UP. Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Eric Braganza, President Haier India said, “We congratulate the government of Uttar
Pradesh for holding the second ground-breaking ceremony and appreciate its
vision to make UP a $1 trillion economy in the coming years. Haier India is
pleased to be a part of Uttar Pradesh’s journey towards becoming a global
manufacturing hub thereby generating employment in the state. We are committed
towards the government’s initiatives and delivering best in-class innovations
to our customers.”
With the second industrial park, Haier aims to scale
up the production capacity of categories like refrigerators, washing machines,
air conditioners, LED panels, and water heaters. Once functional, the new
industrial park in Greater Noida will hold an annual capacity to produce two
million units of refrigerators, one million units each of LED TVs, washing
machines and air conditioners. It will further generate around 4,000 new direct
employment opportunities along with over 10,000 indirect jobs in the country. Offering
an opportunity for vendors and OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to scale
up and bring about an expanded business with increased local production and
lesser dependence on imports.
