The Malaysia Palm Oil Trade Fair and Seminar, 2014, (POTS), is to be organised by the Malaysian Palm Oil council (MPOC) on 26th June 2014 in the business capital of India, Mumbai.

The principle objective of MPOC is to promote the usage of Malaysian Palm Oil by disseminating information about its characteristics including nutrition, cooking properties, affordability, etc. MPOC aims to address all related issues by providing a platform such as POTS to bring together policy makers, industry players, trade associations, consumer bodies, etc.

The importance that Malaysia places on its trade relations with India, more specifically in the vegetable oils sector, is emphasised by the fact that the Hon Y.B. Dato Sri Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities of the Government of Malaysia, has agreed to be the Chief Guest at the POTS 2014.

The seminar will cover many topics, with well-known speakers like Dr Julian McGill, LMC International UK who will be talking about Supply, Demand and Price Outlook of Vegetable Oil Market; Tan Sri Datuk Dr Yusof Basiron, CEO of MPOC, to talk on Malaysian Palm Oil and Its Role in the Global and Oils and Fats Supply Chain; Mr Dorab Mistry, Godrej UK, to talk on Indian Vegetable Oil Demand Scenario: Impact on Global Oils and Fats Prices in 2014; and many others.

MPOC is grateful for the tremendous support it has received from the trade and industry and expects this event to be a grander success than similar events in the past.

About MPOC:
MPOC is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its principal objective is to create awareness about Palm Oil, especially Malaysian Palm Oil, though MPOC does not get involved in the actual trading of palm oil or any other commodity. It also provides consultative services to users of palm oils on technical aspects of the oil. MPOC is charged with spearheading the promotional and marketing activities of Malaysian Palm Oil (MPO) in the effort to make it the leading vegetable oil in the global oils and fats market. This is achieved by enhancing the image of MPO and creating a better acceptance through awareness of various techno-economic advantages and environmental sustainability of palm oil. MPOC’s presence in India demonstrates the importance that Malaysia places on the enhancement of bilateral ties with India in the field of industry, trade and consumer satisfaction.

About MPOC Mumbai
Although Malaysia established diplomatic ties with India in 1957, its year of independence from our common colonial masters, MPOC has been present in India since the early 1990s. Previously based in N.Delhi, it shifted its office to Mumbai in 2004. Just as the diplomatic ties have resulted in a better understanding between the governments and the people of the two countries, MPOC’s presence in India has led to a better understanding between the vegoils industry and policy makers of both countries. It also demonstrates the importance that Malaysia places on the enhancement of bilateral ties with India in the field of industry, trade and consumer satisfaction.
