FIA President Mr. Jean Todt’s view on Road Safety in India
At the press conference at WIAA’s office today, Mr. Jean Todt, President, Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA) addressed his concern over the issue of over 1,40,000 people dying in road accidents in India every year. Also present at the conference were Mr. Gautam Singania, WIAA Executive Chairman Mr. NItin Dossa & President Mr. Edil Katrak.
FIA the World body for Motor Sports and Mobility has been helping out many countries all over the world in Road Safety.
The FIA is working very closely with the UN World Bank Bloomberg in India.
Mr. Todt appreciated the work done by WIAA in Road Safety and also appreaciated recent move of WIAA of signing the MOU with MSRTC to train their 40,000 drivers.
He also mentioned that FIA is willing to help the iRAP for designing roads – a move that would help reduce road accidents.
Mr. Todt also mentioned that he would like to work very closely with the State and he would be meeting the Chief Secretary and the Chief Minister for Road Safety and also discuss how to discipline the drivers.
