Uber inks pact with GVK, Mumbai International Airport

          Aims to make commute from domestic and international airports convenient like never before

Mumbai, December 23, 2016: Uber, the on-demand technology company that has transformed the way people move around in cities, has today announced a partnership with Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) to make it easier for riders to get a ride at both, the domestic and international airports at the tap of a button.

Through this partnership, Uber riders arriving at the Mumbai International Airport (T2) can get a ride within the airport premises at conveniently located predesignated areas - P6 West (on the same floor as the arrivals hall) and P7 West. Riders who land at the domestic airport (T1) can get their ride at the predesignated pick-up point.

Additionally, riders who request an Uber, from both the domestic and international terminals, will only have to pay a single fee which will be all-inclusive and will be directly included in the rider’s receipt, thus making the airport experience more seamless. For added convenience, Uber representatives will be on-ground at both airports to help travellers book an Uber and guide them to the pickup points.

Commenting on the partnership, Shailesh Sawlani, General Manager, Uber Mumbai, said, “We are very excited about this partnership with the Mumbai International Airport and GVK, making it easier for riders to get a ride within minutes and get to their destination in a more convenient and hassle-free way. We are also looking forward to and working towards more integrated services with MIAL to help riders with end-to-end services right from downloading the app, getting their ride and getting off at their destination.”

 Using Uber at the airport? Here’s what you need to know:

Scheduled Rides: This feature enables you to book a ride up to 30 days in advance with just a few taps on your app. This helps ensure that your Uber will be there when it’s time to head out to the airport - especially if it’s the first flight out of town.

 How it works:

Open the Uber app and tap the calendar icon in the “where to” box.

Set your pickup date and time; and enter your pickup and drop off locations

Select the ride you want to take (ie: uberGo) and see the estimated fare; Tap “schedule”

We’ll send you reminders both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance of your pickup. You’ll be notified once your ride is on the way, as well as what the fare will be. You can cancel up to 5 minutes after your ride is on the way.

 

·         In app experience: Our new rider app has built-in prompts to provide instructions for your pickup at both the terminals in Mumbai. At the International terminal (T2) the app will prompt you to meet your driver at the P6 West and P7 West pickup areas. At the domestic airport, the app will prompt you towards the pre-designated pickup area.  

·         On-ground experience: We have begun partnerships with airports like Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) (also known as Kempegowda International Airport) apart from Mumbai International Airport - GVK, to provide riders with experienced staff on ground to help riders with booking a ride or navigating to our pick up zones.

·         High Reliability: We are able to provide higher reliability because we are constantly working with our driver partners to improve expected time of arrivals (ETAs). Our latest driver app update includes the technology to inform drivers about their wait time before they get their next ride so he is ready when it is time to pick up the rider
