Ducati launches the all new Scrambler Desert Sled in India

New Delhi, 20 July 2017: Ducati India announced the launch of the Scrambler Desert Sled. Drawing its inspiration from the off-road bikes of the '60s and '70s that made US motorcycling history in the mountains and deserts of California, the Scrambler Desert Sled offers a unique incomparable style.
Equipped with a 6-speed gearbox, the EURO 4-compliant, twin-cylinder 803 cm3 air and oil-cooled engine delivers 75 hp at 8,250 rpm and a torque of 68 Nm at 5,750 rpm. The updated homologation introduces a new throttle control and an all-new engine calibration that has made power delivery even smoother, especially at the bottom end of the rev range.
The modified frame and suspension, high mudguards (specially designed for this version), type-approved headlight mesh guard and engine skid plate lend to the off-road capability of the Scrambler Desert Sled.
The Scrambler Desert Sled is the natural evolution of the Urban Enduro version towards a more functional off-road style. It is also characterised by a new riding position thanks to the full 200 mm extended travel on the front and rear suspension, higher seat (a 20 mm low seat option is available as an accessory) and off-road style foot pegs with removable rubber pads. The 19” front and 17” rear spoked wheels on the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled mount the new Pirelli SCORPION™ RALLY STR tyres that have been specially designed to combine the performance of a top-flight off-road tyre with that of an enduro street one. Combining maximum stopping performance with minimalist styling, the Brembo braking system features a Bosch 9.1 MP ABS system with pressure sensor. The front wheel has a single 330 mm disc and a 4-piston Brembo M4.32B monobloc caliper while the rear features a 245 mm disc gripped by a 32 mm diameter piston caliper.
Sergi Canovas Garriga, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “We’ve introduced for the first time in India, a motorcycle in the ‘easy off-road’ category. Staying true to the Scrambler family and inspiration from the '60s and '70s, California motorcycle scene, the Desert Sled reinforces the pure essence of motorcycling: two wheels, wide handlebars, a straightforward engine and endless fun. The bike is perfect for the city and to get off the tarmac and explore the road less travelled.”
In perfect Scrambler style, the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled also comes with a dedicated accessory and apparel line. The Scrambler Desert Sled is available in ‘Red Dusk’ and ‘White Mirage’ with black frame and spoked wheels with gold rims at INR 9,32,000 & INR 9,45,000 (Ex-showroom) respectively.
Prices for the Euro 4 version of the Scrambler Icon and Scrambler Classic start at INR 7,23,000 and INR 8,48,000 respectively. Bookings for Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, Icon and Classic (now available in Euro 4 version) are open and the motorcycles are available across all dealerships in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad and Kochi.
