MOHABBAT-E-RAFI SAHEB : 37 Soulful Numbers on Rafi Saheb's 37th Punyatithi

A Tribute to Legendary Singer Mohd Rafi

The Rafi Foundation will present MONUMENTAL NUGGETS  of Legendary Singer Tansen  Mohd Rafi titled Mohabbat-E-Rafi Saheb at the Kamla Vihar Club at Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali West (Mumbai) on July 8th from 7.30 pm onwards on the occassion of his 37th punyatithi. 

Mohd Rafi ruled the charts of Bollywood songs for three decades or more  with a versality and range unmatched in playback singing. Mohd Rafi sang bhajans, ghazals,naats, qawwalis, nazms. soft romantic numbers, bhangaras. classical pieces, sad numbers - all these and more in different styles for different actors.

Mohd Rafi left us on July 31st 1980 on a rainy night at 10.48 pm leaving a permanent void in the lives of millions of his passionate fans and music lovers.

Music Composer Laxmikant had commented -  in the nineties that RAFI Sahebs popularity is increasing even after a decade as seen from the massive demands for his albumns and songs. His partner Pyarelal bhai the living legend recently said : Mohd Rafi was always number One in the Industry and as a matter of fact  commented : "Mohd Rafi's  biggest fan was Kishore Kumar who adorned the pictures of K L Saigal & Rafi Saheb in his drawing room.

We fans remember that Kishore Kumar and family when visiting London was treated with the now famous Rafi Courtesy by Mohd Rafi himself - with the choicest  Biryanis - as reported by Amit Kumar - son of Kishore Da.

This Musical Event will feature songs such as Zindagi bhar nahi bhulegi woh barsaat ke raat, Dil Ka Suna Saaz, Aaj kal mein dhal gayaa, Jawaniyah yeh mast mast bin piye, Yeh duniya usike, Sau baar janam lenge, Udhe jab jab julfe teri, Ramaya Vastavaya,  Khoya Khoya Chaand, Tere ghar ke saamne, Khoya khoya Chand, Man re tu kahe na dheer dhare among others will be presented.

Top Stage Performers : Ashish Srivastava, Jothiraman Iyer, Ashish Mishra, Nalini Kulkarni, Esha , Suresh Raheja, Navtej Singh with Deepali and Sanjay Korgaokar will belt the popular numbers.
