Mumbai, 28th November: Mumbai's Sunit Jadhav once again stamped his class as a body building athlete par excellence, when he emerged the winner of the inaugural State level Rs 114 lakh prize money Talwalkars Classique Invitational Bodybuilding Championship, a unique event held to celebrate the 85th birthday of Madhukar Tawalkar, the doyen of the Indian fitness industry.
Fifteen of Maharashtra's top male bodybuilding athletes and six female Sports Physique athletes were provided a unique platform to compete and excel and sharing the honours with Jadhav was Dr. Manjiri Bhavsar, who emerged the best Sports Physique athlete.
Jadhav, who was recently adjudged Asian Champion, was clearly the better developed and defined athlete, though city mate Sagar Katurde also impressed with his preparation and posing routine and was rightly adjudged the runner-up.
While Jadhav earned Rs 5 lakh and the Talwalkars Cassique title, Katurde took home Rs 2.5 lakh, while second runner up Mahendra Chavan of Thane earned Rs 1.5 lakh.
Dr. Manjiri earned Rs 75,000 and the title of the Physique Sports champion. Stella Gode (Pune) & Aditi Bam (Pune) placed 2nd & 3rd respectively.
Dr. Manjiri has a degree in homeopathy and began training in Physique Sports two years ago, along with managing her clinic. "My husband always wanted to get into bodybuilding but couldn’t do so, so he encouraged me to begin training and helped with everything. He’s my pillar and I dedicate this achievement to him,” said Dr. Manjiri post the championship.
