OLX.in
to honor needy mothers on the special occasion of Mother’s Day
Mumbai, 8th May, 2013 Using the concept of Mother’s Day to
reach out to a new and otherwise neglected section of society, “Every Mother
Counts”, a first social initiative of its kind by OLX.in, successfully
recognized underprivileged mothers across the country. Celebrating the bond of
mother-child, the campaign reached out to over 50 shelter homes for women and
children and 30 to 40 odd slum areas across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and
Kolkata, proving its worth as an extremely well received social movement.
The activity encouraged OLX patrons to give away their personal items and
belongings to destitute kids for gifting to their mothers thus enabling both to
celebrate the joy of Mother’s Day for the first time.
In order to make this Mother’s Day occasion special, OLX.in reached out
to a shelter home for the underprivileged by Koli welfare Association, Dharavi, Mumbai, much to the
surprise of its inhabitants. The event started with Mr. Gaurav Mehta,
Director Marketing, OLX.in expressing their thoughts on this unique
initiative.
Mr. Gaurav Mehta, Director Marketing, OLX.in shared his
elation and gratitude on this occasion, “As India’s leading Online C2C marketplace for used goods, we are indeed
happy and excited to have executed a socially relevant and extremely gratifying
campaign like Every Mother Counts. We have managed to not only spread happiness
and smiles to many needy mothers but also been able to garner extensive and
unprecedented support of our users to make this campaign a hit. We are thankful
to our donors for participating in the joy of giving and making this
possible.”
OLX.in received tremendous traction on “EveryMotherCounts” with over 600
donors and 3000 plus items from all four cities, exceeding all expectations.
While Delhi recorded 382 donors with 1500 items collected, Mumbai collected 250
items with 80 donors. 100 donors from Bangalore collected 815 items while
Kolkata recorded 25 donors with 120 collected items. Donated items included big
and unique gifts like television sets, water beds, new blankets, wheel chairs,
artificial jewellery besides household goods, clothes, shoes, electronics etc.
The gift distribution ceremony started off with Mr. Gaurav Mehta
addressing over 100 kids & mothers at Dharavi and presenting them gifts
packed in a fine OLX.in hamper. OLX’s team interacted with these kids and
mothers and exchanged warm wishes for Mother’s Day.
“EveryMotherCounts” gave new meaning to the idea of putting second
hand goods to use. It directed the giving away of such items for a noble cause
and acknowledged the impoverished mothers in society. It also helped the kids
of such mothers understand their value and celebrate their bond with gifts for
their wonderful Moms.
Using
clutter-breaking integrated marketing communication and activations, OLX.in has
convincingly influenced people to share a humanitarian aspect and create magic
using second hand products. Their latest campaign Every Mother Counts hailed
every needy mother as a Supermom and strengthened the mother-child relation in
the lower strata of society.
