"The Austrian National Tourist Office held its annual roadshow from the 9th-11th of February 2016. Delegates from local tourist boards, incoming agencies, attractions, hotels and travel partners were part of the roadshow to showcase Austria as a destination for summer 2016. The roadshow was held in 3 cities; Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi and was a huge success, with close to 350 agents attending collectively.  Travel from India to Austria saw a whopping 40% increase from 2014 to 2015 in arrivals and 34% in overnights. (comparison) 2005: 71.162 overnights and 39.204 arrivals from India.

Austria total 2015: 218.700 overnights (plus 33,9% from 2014) from India and 118.300 arrivals (plus 40% from 2014). Arrivals in Austria hence grew about twice as strong as overall traffic to Europe and prove that Austria is one of the most sought after destinations. The perfect combination of culture and nature is the primary appeal of Austria as a destination, the essence of what the Austrian Tourist Office has been focusing on in its marketing efforts. The Austrian Tourist Office has recently completed its website relaunch to offer the perfect platform to promote the varied and colorful aspects of a vacation in Austria. This week the Tourist Office launches its new marketing campaign “Journeys Through Austria” offering expertly curated itineraries. Insider tips combined with practical information provide a travel planning tool for the visitor from INDIA to experience Austria at its fullest.

Christine Mukharji, Director of the Austrian National Tourist Office in India is optimistic for the year ahead – “We will continue our focus to promote the unique symbiosis of culture and nature. A visit to Austria is not “just another vacation on the bucket list” but a rewarding experience and immersion in Austrian culture and lifestyle. It is easy for Indian guests to feel at home, they quickly feel part of an authentic lifestyle that is rewarding and enriches their lives even back at home”.
