KC College to organise Media Summit on Digital Democracy

Mumbai, January 12, 2016: The Department of Mass Media, Kishinchand Chellaram College, will be organizing the third annual media summit – ‘Media Summit 2016 - an International Conference on Digital Democracy’. Addressing the media persons here, Ms Manju Nichani, Principal, KC College said, “The theme for this year’s media conference is Digital Democracy, which is relevant to the existing means of expressions on various digital media. The keynote speakers for the conference will be Dr Andrew Hacker, former Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and Ms. Vanita Kohli-Khandekar – a well-known writer and media specialist who has been critically tracking the Indian media and entertainment industry for many years now.

The conference will be inaugurated by Mr. Sachin Kalbaug, Resident Editor of the Hindu. Mr. Sourav Majumdar, Forbes India Editor and Mr Mahesh Murthy, an eminent venture capitalist will be the guests for valedictory on the second day of the conferenceApart from other interesting sessions, there will be a panel discussion themed 'Digital Democracy and Aam Aadmi' on Feb 20, 2016 - second day of the conference - with prominent panelists including; Dr. Andrew Hacker, Mr. Ramesh Narayan - senior advertising professional, Mr. Umesh Shrikhande - CEO, Taproot, Ms. Shai Venkatraman- broadcast journalist & TV producer, Mr. Sachin Dedhia- cyber laws professional and Mr. Anand Gandhi- independent film maker.

Sharing her views, Kanika Choudhary, Ambassador, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania said, "We are very delighted to partner with KC College. We will have Dr. Andrew Hacker, one of the top three people in the US, who is coming to India especially for Media Summit being organized by the Department of Mass Media. Dr Hacker will share his views on cyber laws and digital democracy and its challenges. I congratulate KC College for creating such a big knowledge platform."

Speaking about the upcoming conference, Ms Manjula Srinivas, Head, Dept of Mass Media said, “The media summit is one of its kind.
