National, November 27, 2019: India has been witnessing extreme weather conditions over the last few years. While some areas are reeling under drought-like conditions, others are flooded. These extremes have resulted in an unprecedented water crisis. To tackle this cycle of extreme conditions seen across several parts of the country, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) hosted a conference on ‘Moving from Risks to Resilience for a water secure future’ in New Delhi, today.
The one-day conference saw industry experts deliberate on solutions to manage floods, droughts and overall water-ecosystem through adaptive and efficient water management. Given Grundfos India’s strong alignment to the United Nation’s Sustainability Development Goal (SDG) 6 that focuses on water, the company supported this event as a Gold sponsor.
Chairing this initiative, Ranganath N.K, Area Managing Director, INDO Region, Grundfos, said, “To facilitate India’s aspiration to be an economic superpower in the future, it is important to mitigate the current water challenges across the country. We must understand the vital role that river catchments, wetlands, local water bodies, rivers, streams and groundwater play in controlling floods and droughts. We need to create a holistic and sustainable approach to managing water and wastewater across India to become more resilient. An ideal combination of effective policy, stakeholder involvement, sustainable solutions and quick implementation is necessary to ensure that we make the country water secure for the future.”
