Medha Patkar files Nomination
Medha Patkar- Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Mumbai Northeast files nomination today at Election Office in Mulund East in the presence of thousands of supporters comprising of all the section of the society, supporters from across the country and also in the presence of veterans socialist leaders, writers and artists.
MS. Patkar began her Sankalp Yatra to file her nomination at Mankhurd station where hundreds of supporters from slum holding train tickets in their hands had already gathered to travel with her to the election office. She along with supporters boarded the local to Mulund via Kurla-where another hundreds of people were waiting for her to join toward election office. She got the final train to Mulund West and traveled all through the way by chanting the slogans of victory echoed by daily commuters.
As soon as Patkar reached the Mulund W and got down the train she was again encircled by thousands of people already waiting for her at Mulund W, where Ms. Patkar were offered traditional Aarti and were garlanded by the supporters, she got into an open Gypsy and began theSankalp Yatra with the beats of drum. On the way Patkar was greeted by red roses by hawkers and traders who welcomed the Sankalp Yatra.
As Yatra reached near the destination of filing nomination it was stopped and was addressed by MS Patkar and various veterans who were accompanying her. Ms. Patkar in her speech before going to the Election Office had enumerated the story of her struggles from Narmada to all over the country in which she had raised the question on the issues of development planning, equitable distribution of resources, the issues of equal rights to Dalits, Aadivasi, Minorites and Labourers, she also had expressed her concern on the serious problem of caste based politics and communal violence. Ms. Patkar highlighted exploitation of natural resources and the corporate loot of the same by corrupt politics. She stated that Aam Aadmi Party is an alternative to the Movement based politics which peoples movements had been into. Aam Aadmi Party involves the greater participation of common man and also so much for decentralization of power and realization of Swaraj.
After addressing the speech she headed the towards the election office to present before the Returning Officer to file her nomination, as the process went on of filing the nomination of her candidature from Mumbai Northeast for Lok Sabha Election 2014 from Aam Aadmi Party she declared her assets Two Lakhs Nine Thousands. Explaining about her assets which comprises a cash of around Rs. 24,000, she said most of the amount will be transferred to Narmada Navnirman Abhiyan and NAPM, about the eight criminal charges against her she elaborated that all the charges were imposed on her during the movements.
Before leaving to the Election Office she was blessed by all the supporters which include veterans socialist leaders Dr. G.G. Parikh, Pushpa Bhawe, renowned writer and publisher Ramdas Bhatkal, senior theatre activist Ratnakar Matkari, senior Sarvodaya activist Daniel Mazgaonkar, Kumar Prashant , social activist Surekha Dhalwi, Suniti S.R. and also various supporters came from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Keral, Karnatka and Delhi.
