Fort Mumbai on 7th June 2015.

Freemasonry society will be introduce to a moral and ethical approach to life
where in it will be also open for the public who are interested in knowing more
about Freemasonry. The occasion will start with a celebration, followed by a
Parsi prayer, at the Foundation stone of the building at 9.30am followed by a
tour of Masonic Artefacts, a talk on ‘Symbolism of the Temple’ delivered at
every hour starting from 12 noon to 5 pm.
Freemasonry
is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are
taught its principles (moral lessons and self-knowledge) by a series of ritual
dramas. Freemasonry instils in its members a moral and ethical approach to life;
its values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Members are
urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount
but, importantly, Freemasonry also teaches concern for people, care for the
less fortunate and help for those in need.
Freemasonry had come
to Mumbai in 1758. A few years later, in 1764, a Provincial Grand Lodge was
formed, with Bro James Todd being appointed the first Provincial Grand Master
by Earl Ferrers. After that W.Bro George Taylor, the WM of Lodge St. George,
was installed as the first true Provincial Grand Master of Bombay on July 16th,
1861. To all intents and purposes, this was also the beginning of the
Provincial Grand Lodge itself, as no other Provincial Grand Master had been
installed since the appointment of Bro Todd almost a hundred years previously.
