Indus Health Plus celebrated World Cancer Day through education drive in college and municipal schools

February 13, 2017, Mumbai : On the occasion of World Cancer Day (4th Feb), Indus Health Plus conducted a unique initiative to educate youth about the disease and spread the importance of lifestyle modification in fighting the risk factors of cancer through Doctor’s Talk. This awareness drive in college and municipal school was conducted on 8^th February in Mumbai. The aim was to improve early diagnosis through raising awareness of the warning signs and asymptomatic symptoms of cancer in teenagers and young adults.

Indus Health Plus in association with Rizvi College of arts, science & commerce and Bandra Municipal school in Bandra area where Dr. Imran Shaikh, Medical Oncologist, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) and Dr. Sanjay Kapote, Director – Apollo Clinics were invited to educate students on the ill effects of cancer and how the risk of cancer can be reduced by adopting healthy lifestyle and preventive ways.

Over 400 students were educated in the age group of 12-21 years in one day. The session was interactive where students were keen to know about signs and symptoms of cancer and its preventive measures.

During his talk, Dr. Imran Shaikh, Medical Oncologist, KDAH said, “Cancer is spreading fast in India and is catching the youths into its grip. Educating children and teenagers about the ill-effects of tobacco use and a sedentary lifestyle can help them to reduce the risk of such diseases to a greater extent. I always emphasize that most of the cancers are preventable if taken due care in early life, so it will be better if younger generation is made aware before so that they lead a healthy and longer life”.
