Google Assistant now available to more Android phones in India
New Delhi, Thursday, December 14, 2017: Google announced that Google Assistant which is already available across a number of devices and languages will now be available on supported phones running on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Earlier this year, Google first brought the Assistant to Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Google Play Services. With this new addition more users will be able to experience the Google Assistant.
Maksim Mukha, Program Manager, Google Assistant said “We are now adding Android 5.0 Lollipop to the list of devices on which Google Assistant will be available. With this our aim is to ensure that more and more Indians can get help from the Google Assistant. The Google Assistant on Android 5.0 Lollipop has started to roll out to users with the language set to English in the U.S., UK, India, Australia, Canada and Singapore, as well as in Spanish in the U.S., Mexico and Spain. It’s also rolling out to users in Italy, Japan, Germany, Brazil and Korea. Once you get the update and opt-in, you’ll see an Assistant app icon in your “All apps” list”
Whether you’d like to know ODI cricket updates, or want to get directions to the closest movie theater, or want to find out how to say “how are you?” in a foreign language, just say “Ok Google” and your Assistant on your phone will be ready to help.
The Google Assistant will automatically come to eligible Android phones running Nougat and Marshmallow with Google Play Services.
