Meet 2013
ASUS Component Business Division
successfully concluded their annual tech enthusiasts meet on 28th
September 2013 at their Mumbai head office. The
meet aimed to educate enthusiasts on recent technological innovations offered
by ASUS with focus on their Z87, ROG and TUF series motherboards, Transformer
AIO, wireless networking products and desktop products. The event also served
as an excellent opportunity to gather feedback about the brand from an end user
perspective on a direct face to face platform. During the course of the day,
there was also a video conference call conducted with Mr. Jack Cheng from ASUS
R&D motherboard division to answer all the queries users had about ASUS’
new and upcoming motherboards.
ASUS had first organized such a meet
in July 2011 to get together like minded tech enthusiasts on one platform to
share and discuss about their products and technologies and gather feedback
from knowledgeable end users. In this year’s meet, there was a presentation on
ASUS Z87 motherboards, wireless networking products and desktop products
followed by static demo of the latest ASUS products like the ASUS VivoPC,
RT-AC68U wireless router, MX279H LCD monitor, Transformer AIO and the entire
range of Z87 motherboards including the mini-ITX Republic of Gamers board – the
Maximus VI Impact. There was also a live product demo of the recently launched
ASUS Xonar U7 soundcard.
Amongst the machines available as a part of
hands-on experience, there was a Z87-Deluxe/Dual based demo-PC for experiencing
ASUS NFC EXPRESS for convenient remote access and quick Windows 8 login
functions, activated by simply touching a smart device or the included tag to
an external accessory box that also works as a USB 3.0 hub with two extra USB
3.0 ports. A gaming PC with Maximus VI Formula motherboard and GTX780 DirectCU
II graphics card was also on display. Enthusiasts also used their high-end
headphones for an audiophile-grade front audio hearing experience, courtesy the
ROG SupremeFX Formula on-board audio solution. A small form factor gaming PC
with the H87-I PLUS mini-ITX motherboard and GTX650Ti Boost 2GB graphics card
was also on display.
Towards the end of the
event, there was also an extreme overclocking session using LN2 (liquid
Nitrogen) cooling was done by Shatul Durlabhji aka Toolius - proprietor of Comp
Kraft Pvt. Ltd. – a company specializing in building high performance computers
for specialized uses. Durlabhji is a renowned overclocker from India and has in
the past ranked in many CPU frequency worldwide records. Usually practiced by
enthusiasts, overclocking is done to attain levels of performance beyond the
values specified by the hardware manufacturer. At the enthusiasts meet, he was
able to hit 6.1 Ghz on the Intel Corei7-4770k processor. This also gave the attendees
a great opportunity to witness overclocking using extreme cooling first hand.
Around 30 tech
enthusiasts attended the event which was strictly by invite only. These
enthusiasts comprised primarily of engineering students, IT professionals,
consultants, business owners and technology forum members who vigorously pursue
overclocking/gaming/modding as a hobby.
Pleased with the presence and participation, Mr.
Vinay Shetty – Country Head, Component Business, ASUS (India) said, “Just like
the last meet, it was an excellent opportunity for us to learn and share about
our products and technology in an informal setting and it was great to see many
of the users again. We would like to hold such meets from time to time to
facilitate this type of focused interaction regarding our products and services
to continually improve our offerings to the market.”
