Mumbai. 30thApril, 2015 – A free lifeline is being offered to India’s urbanites who suffer some of the worst air pollution in the world according to WHO. Sweden’s Blueair, the world’s top maker of indoor air purification technologies, has launched India’s first independent App for smartphones and other mobile devices, which is designed to keep the nation’s 377 million city-dwellers updated about the deadliness of the air they are breathing.
The Blueair mobile App provides Indian’s concerned about their health and well being the opportunity to discover in real time the level of pollution they are breathing. The smart App monitors the level of air pollution in cities such as Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai where there is a high risk of air pollution-related diseases by harvesting information from local air monitoring stations and delivering it directly to a mobile device for easy viewing. The app is currently being launched for iOS and will be available for Android phones within a week.
“As the biggest global name in indoor air purifying, Blueair is committed to help people across India protect their own health and well being by discovering the extent of air pollution before it becomes a risk– and then take precautionary steps,” said Vijay Kannan, head of Blueair India.
Updated hourly, the Blueair app reveals real-time pollution levels in key metropolitan cities. The app ranks the pollution at a numeral range between 0-500, identifying categories ranging from ‘good’ to ‘hazardous’, and measuring the risk of pollution to human health. The Blueair app also determines the concentration of pollutants in the air.
The air quality updates provided by the Blueair air quality app comprise a detailed index of the levels of carbon monoxide, PM-2.5 fine particulates, ozone, and more, in the air, which makes it easier for people suffering from asthma, bronchitis, or other breathing problems to take immediate precautions to alleviate their symptoms.
“Air pollution is escalating everywhere. It is a global concern with millions of people being diagnosed with breathing and skin health issues related to pollution from cars, trucks and buses, industrial production and construction. Our new AQ App signals the launch by Blueair of a campaign to spur a ‘clean air India movement’.
