LANXESS India wins the TRILA award for the category ‘Company of the year-Rubber Chemicals’


The award comes in as a recognition of the phenomenal growth registered by the business line Anti-Oxidants & Accelerators(AXX) under BU AII

Thane, June 21, 2016: LANXESS India has won the Company of the year Award under the Rubber Chemicals category in the recently held Tyre & Rubber Industry Leadership Acknowledgement (TRILA) awards in New Delhi.

Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Executive Director and Senior Vice President BU – Advanced Industrial Intermediates accepted the award from Mr. V K Misra, Technical Director – JK Tyres & Industries Ltd. amidst an audience consisting of some of the most eminent personalities from the Tyre & Rubber Industry on June 15, 2016 at a felicitation ceremony held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, in the backdrop of Tyre Expo India. Presented by Tyre Times, the TRILA awards aims to bring to the forefront, the talent achievement, excellence & quality from within tyre & associated industries & share their achievement with the rest of the world.

The prestigious award is another feather in LANXESS India’s cap since its jury comprised most of the major Tyre Customers / industry representatives including representatives from Tyre Industry Research, UK, Elastomer Technical Development Society, Apollo Tyres Ltd., JK Tyres & Industries Ltd., CEAT Ltd., Rubber Machinery World, Nippon Carbide and Vizium (a unit of Dentsu Aegis). The recognition has come LANXESS India’s way on the back of a commendable performance through its separate business line Anti-Oxidants and Accelerators (AXX) under BU AII.

Within a year and a half this business moved from being potentially divested to a position of aggressive growth. This award is an acknowledgement of the phenomenal growth achieved in this area over the past year.  During this short period of time, the BU AII Management also invested in doubling the production capacities at the Jhagadia site for Antioxidants production.

“This is a challenging business and has a lot of industry over capacities and poor operating margins which has led a players to shut down globally as well as in India. We had to re-invent ourselves quickly and urgently work to improving efficiencies and cost competitiveness in all areas, be it in our Manufacturing processes, Supply Chain efficiencies or increasing productivity and we worked aggressively in all of them over the past year and half”, said Mr. Banerjee while thanking all the customers for their support over the past years that has seen the business line achieve higher production & sales in almost all the products.

While he also thanked the organizers, Tyre Times and the esteemed jury, he further added, “The industry has taken notice of the way our business has developed in India in the past year and this seems to have come just in time for our planned expansions at Jhagadia. Needless to mention, our best efforts to further increase business / market share in our Global Product Portfolio of the BL AXX will continue unabated”.

Commenting on the win, Dr. Dirk Van Meirvenne, Global Head of BU AII, said, “Having received the TRILA awards is a great honor for BU AII.
