Hast Karigar Society organizes Ethnic Weaves and Crafts Bazaar in Mumbai
Mumbai: Delhi’s Hast Karigar Society organizes Ethnic Weaves and Crafts Bazaar from October 27 to November 02, 2012 from 11 am to 7 pm daily at Coomaraswamy Hall, Prince of Wales Museum, Colaba, Mumbai.
Bring home some of the traditional and exquisitely crafted eco-friendly masterpieces this festive season with special attraction of learning and making ones own pieces of crafts as the artisans demonstrate and share secrets of their trade on Block Printing, Traditional Painting, Stone and Lac Jewelery, Tribal embroidery, Iron craft from Bastar, Leather puppet, Tie & Dye, weaving and other artisanal crafts.
Products for sale: Fabric, saree, stole, scarf, duppatta, kurta, bed cover, cushion cover and curtain, carpets, made ups, Gond painting, Pattachitra, Madhubani, Miniature painting, necklace, ear-ring, bangles, pendant, bracelet and wristlet etc of silver, copper, lac and stone, Bastar show-pieces of human beings, animals and nature gods, lamp sheds, clocks, wall hangings, bags and purses, office stationery, jutti, chappal and sandals, table mats, window curtains, runners, diya, magic lamp, tiles and various other utility products, home and decorative items.

Most of the products are environment friendly and safe for use. The Society and its members believe in sustainable economic production and livelihood where renewable resources are used and mechanization is regulated with the minimal use of non-renewable resources.
The weavers, artisans and traditional painters are all members of Hast Karigar Society, are actual producers where skills have been passed on traditionally. At the same time products like Sanghaner Block Print have made a mark in the international market and trade circles by having their own Geographical Indicator Registration to protect their identity and intellectual property rights. Exquisite embroidery from the desert region of Rajasthan is a work of great skill from the communities who are refugees from Pakistan. Similarly, the Gond tribal painting drawing the relationship of nature with living organisms is a painstaking work with dots and dashes only. The vibrant colors of various weaves, tribal embroidery and jewelery adds a taste of uniqueness to the Exhibition.
