Mumbai gets its first Ginger Hotel

Launches on a grand scale the first ‘Smart Basics’ hotel 
in Mumbai 
Mumbai, 22 October 2012:  Ginger Hotel, the chain of Smart Basics hotels from Roots Corporation Limited, today launched its very first hotel in Mumbai, located on Mahakali Caves Road, Andheri. Mr. Raymond Bickson, MD and CEO, Indian Hotels Company Limited inaugurated the 116-room hotel that will cater predominantly to business travellers in the country’s financial hub.

Commenting on the Ginger Hotels’s foray in Mumbai, Mr Raymond Bickson, MD and CEO, Indian Hotels Company Limited said, “The Indian hospitality sector offers an immense growth potential for comfortable and hygienic accommodation at affordable pricing. The company, working in association with Prof. C.K. Prahalad, identified this opportunity in India much in advance of the industry, and thus conceived India’s first chain of no-frills, “Smart Basics” hotels. The 116-room hotel in Mumbai has individually air-conditioned rooms equipped with electronic locks, a work area, and a 26-inch LCD television with satellite channels, direct-dial telephone including STD facility, mini-fridge and tea/coffee maker. Located within close proximity of the domestic and international airports, the export zone SEEPZ and the industrial hub MIDC, the Ginger Hotel in Andheri is well connected to the Western and Central suburbs of Mumbai.

The hotels have 100 / 150 well-appointed air-conditioned rooms equipped with a 22-inch LCD television with satellite channels, mini-fridge and tea/coffee maker.
Other guest facilities at the hotel include a meeting and conference room, net zone, gymnasium, vending machines, digital safe deposit boxes, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity in the public areas and individual rooms.
