PETA recognizes AVON’s commitment to “Working for Regulatory Change

Bengaluru: AVON, being one of the first global beauty companies to consciously put an end to testing its products on animals almost three decades ago, has been recognised by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) as among a handful of international companies “Working for Regulatory Change”. AVON’s recognition by the American animal rights organisation comes on the back of its demonstrated, ongoing commitment to promoting the development, validation and regulatory acceptance of non-animal methods.
“We do not believe that animal testing is important to confirm product safety and that is why we do not test any of our products on animals anywhere around the globe. We will continue to push for greater acceptance of alternatives. We’re committed to meeting the needs of our customers across the world and will continue to be a responsible and environmentally conscious company. The recognition from PETA makes us very happy and proud,” said Swati Jain, Marketing Director, AVON India. Respect for animal welfare is a cornerstone of AVON’s product safety philosophy. For over three decades AVON has actively worked to develop non-animal approaches to safety testing and partnered with organizations such as the Institute for In Vitro Sciences, Humane Society International (HSI) and FRAME to come up with alternative solutions that push for a cruelty-free beauty industry in the future.
Recently, AVON ended all regulatory-required animal testing, making it the first global beauty company selling in China to stop all animal testing of ingredients and products across all its brands. The company will open up new e-commerce channels which are exempted from China’s legal requirements for animal testing. This is a significant step for AVON and a tremendous achievement delivered by a cross-functional effort. All AVON products are cruelty free.
