USHA International announces ‘Usha Mumbai Ultimate Open’

Mumbai: USHA International, one of India’s leading consumer durables company, is the first company to promote Ultimate Frisbee in India. Taking forward this strong commitment, USHA has announced the Usha Mumbai Ultimate Open in association with UPAI (Ultimate Players Association of India) starting from March 11, 2017. This is the fifth year in a row that the company will be supporting this tournament.
This tournament is also known as Gheun Tak and will host 28 club teams from India with approximately 400 players participating in the same. USHA Gheun Tak 2017 is a three day tournament taking place between March 11th and March 13th, 2017. The matches will be played at Mahalakshmi Sports Ground, Priyadarshini Park and St. Xavier’s Grounds in South Mumbai.
Speaking about the event, Ms. Komal Mehra, Events Head, USHA International said, “USHA’s collaboration with Mumbai Ultimate Open is a part of the company’s aim in promoting sporting talent and spreading active lifestyle. Along with overall promotion of the game, Usha is also supporting an outreach programmes in the slums of Dharavi, and Kunchikurve, Santacruz East to train young talent and promote Ultimate Frisbee at grassroots level.”
Ultimate is perhaps the only sport in which men and women can play together on the same team and is self-refereed by players thus promoting the spirit of the game, efficient communication, coordination, alignment and team building among the players. It is high intensity, and exciting sport that enhances stamina, agility and is super fun- all the things for healthy and active lifestyle.
Ultimate has been gaining huge popularity in India. Last year, India sent 4 teams to compete at the World’s Ultimate and Guts Championship (WUGC) 2016 in different categories – Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Mixed and Masters. USHA has always been supportive of numerous sporting initiatives in the country like Cricket, Ladies and Junior Golf, Football etc. New age appliances from the company, like Infiniti Cook Halogen Oven, on the go blenders, cold pressed Juicers, air coolers with ionizers also represent USHA’s commitment to promote a fun, active and healthy lifestyle.

Mayor praises the footballing talent of Mumbai as he announces young stars will travel to London

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced the names of the successful youngsters on the first day of his trade mission to India. Sadiq was attending the ninth annual finals day of the Mumbai Soccer Challenge and watched a challenge match to win the inaugural Mayor of London Cup. He confirmed that, for the first time in the scheme’s nine-year history, two girls as well as two boys will be heading to London.
