Family of a construction worker who succumbed to serious injuries donates vital organs at Nanavati Hospital

Mumbai : Jaglinga Laxman Pujari was working on a construction site when a cement block from 12th floor fell on his head on 12th March 2019. He was immediately bought to Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital. He had suffered severe brain injuries and despite all necessary steps taken to stabilize the patient, he was declared brain dead on the same day.

The family was counselled and after the family gave the consent, the organs were allocated as per established ZTCC norms. Liver and one kidney gave a new lease of life to patients at Nanavati Hospital.  Lungs were transported to a private hospital in Chennai and one kidney was allocated to a private hospital in Mumbai.

Dr. Abdul Ansari, Director- Intensive Care highlighted the importance of creating awareness for organ donation amongst every section of our society.  Dr. Rajendra Patankar, COO, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital expressed that such acts of kindness will go a long way to create awareness amongst our society as   there are many patients fighting with their ailments and waiting for organ donation.
