The new online cinema-zine will cover various facets of Indian cinema-featuring opinion, Exclusive behind-the-scene stories, reportage, narratives, photo-essays, art, interviews and videos. The focus will be on broadening the conversation on cinema along with using it as a prism to look at design, politics and culture at large. The Big Indian Picture hopes to engage in comprehensive and serious film journalism without missing out on the fun.

The Big Indian picture has already started this conversation and is committed to getting everyone involved- writers, academics, politicians, opinion-makers, actors, stars, directors, technicians, novelists, poets, pulp-fictioneers, producers, critics, decision-makers and bring them face to face with everyone who loves cinema.

Speaking on his association with The Big Indian Picture, Milind Soman, COO, www.thebigindianpicture.com said: "It has been a long and often rocky road to this launch. But it's been worth it all, every step of the way. And that is what makes any dream worth its pursuit. We hope you will see this website not only for what it is, but also for what it can become- and be a part of its journey."

Reema Sanghavi, Publisher, www.thebigindianpicture.com added,” I am very excited and proud to bring to life a platform which has been long awaited. I hope this contribution to the glorious film industry is welcomed with lots of love and support.”

Christian Louboutin once designed a shoe inspired by a Satyajit Ray film; Ranbir Kapoor wants to develop a tic to boost his recall value; Karan Johar doesn’t know why he made the super-sappy Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (we don’t either).
This isn’t information from reruns of Koffee with Karan or Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, but from what promises to be a cooler, expanded 2.0 alternate to the super-sappy chat shows: launching next week, TheBigIndianPicture.com is a website featuring Bollywood stories, video interviews, memorabilia and promises to “use [movies] as a prism to look at culture, politics and society.”

It sounds like a tall order, but we’re holding out hope because the website is run by the guys behind the very cool Balcony TV India, who have managed to rope in some pretty big names: journalists such as Gyan Prakash, Hartosh Singh Bal, Aatish Taseer and Teju Cole are working on the project, as have celebrities like the abovementioned as well as Diane Von Furstenburg and Amitabh Bachchan, who is scheduled to launch the website.
Sections on the website includes:

Eye Of The Beholder: Writers, artists and designers talk about the relationship of their work with cinema.

Moveable Feast: Group discussions on cinema in India. The first in the series will feature Bollywood directors, the next, film critics from Mumbai.

Tete-e-Tete: Celebrity interviews, kicked off by Ranbir Kapoor.

Slideshows: Photos of film art, posters and memorabilia.
